■ Development notes Looking straight down into a backpack, a stout, square-sided stuff sack packs in with no gaps — easier to live with than the long, thin kind. On the trail, a stuff sack of about 10 L is the size that fills a pack the cleanest, which is why we've relied on it for a long time. But we wanted more than a hiking-only stuff sack: • an extension on top of the pack lid • a carry-on for flights • a laundry bag • a shopping bag • a sub-bag for bikepacking For about two years now I've been using a personal prototype, and the more I used it the clearer it became how versatile it really is. The wish to "make this an actual product" got strong enough that we started this development.

Design Concept / 設計コンセプト

We rebuilt the pattern from scratch and reshaped the bag into a three-dimensional "banana" form that follows the body. Compared with a flat conventional stuff sack, the load stays more even, and the bag works well as a sub-bag or a shopping bag — simple, with good fit and good capacity.

The zipper is glow-in-the-dark, which makes it much easier to find things in the tent at night. On a long trail you walk from sunrise to sunset, but it was common for us to finish walking right as the sun set. Looking for gear in the dim evening light, looking for gear after waking in the night — just being able to see the opening with the glow zipper means you can feel for what you need.

Storage

This is a large 10L stuff sack, making it suitable for use as a secondary bag. It comes with a short 1-meter strap, so it can also be used as a shoulder bag. The interior has dividers, and the strap can also be stored inside. The dividers have Velcro closures to prevent items from shifting around inside. The Velcro is made of a special material that won't damage clothing. The 10L size is just right for storing a week's worth of groceries.

As a secondary bag

We aimed for a size that would fit snugly into the width and depth of a backpack without any gaps. This size is suitable not only for MIYAGEN's CREST40, but also for various other manufacturers' products. As a top lid It can also be attached as a top lid to the CREST40. You can secure both stabilizers by inserting the hooks into the loops at the base. It also has belt loops, making it less likely to shift sideways.
