Development of the CREST 30 ran in parallel with the CREST 40. MIYAGEN's backpack design traces back to American ultralight thinking. We are not a "stripped-to-the-bone" brand — we aim for tools that are "light, strong, and easy to use." The CREST 40 is a high-volume pack that uses a carbon frame to lift load capacity, fit, and versatility. The CREST 30 pulls back further toward the UL roots — a model designed for "hikers who already know their gear." For a hiker whose long-trail kit is dialled in and whose packing skills are solid, a frame becomes "something you can do without." The CREST 30 was designed for hikers at that stage to comfortably carry a light kit with a base weight of 3–4 kg in 30 L of volume. The question wasn't "what can you do at 650 g?" but "at 650 g, what did you cut?" We worked with that trade-off in mind. What we cut: the frame and part of the back panel padding. What we kept: the full-perimeter daisy chain, the large side pockets, and the comfort of the 3D-CAD-modelled cut. This is a pack designed to be the next pack you want once you've already gone light.

Design Concept / 設計コンセプト

• Overall layout — making a frameless pack work The CREST 30 is a simple tube-shaped pack with no frame. Going frameless gives us both light weight and structural simplicity, while letting hikers with packing skill freely control the centre of gravity of their load. The removable inner pad at the back takes care of that support; depending on the trip, you can also slot in your sleeping pad to play that role.

• 3D-CAD-modelled cut Like the CREST 40, every pattern is designed in 3D CAD from the human body. It's not a flat pattern — when worn, the back curves to follow the body. We chased a shape where, even after a full day on the mountain, hot spots and pressure points are unlikely to appear.

• Full-perimeter daisy chain Daisy chain is placed around the entire CREST 30 at even intervals. Lash a sleeping pad to the outside, fix tent poles, mount accessories. Rather than the manufacturer dictating how to use it, we left margin so the hiker can build the best setup in the field.

• Side pockets Large side pockets on the left and right that each hold a 2 L plastic bottle. On a long trail you have to carry water until the next resupply point — the position and opening shape are tuned so you can pull a bottle out while standing on the move.

• Material choices, by area We use nylon, polyester, and high-strength polyethylene by area, reinforcing the spots where damage tends to concentrate (the bottom, strap junctions, the openings of the side pockets). Rather than making the entire pack uniformly thick, the design is "strong where it needs to be."

• Production and consistency We cut and sew at our own workshop in Okazaki, Aichi, using a laser cutter to keep individual variation low. Even with a UL design, our priority is that the pack stays consistent in quality as a tool.

Function & Detail / 機能ディティール

Full-perimeter daisy chain

Daisy chain is laid out around the entire body of the pack at even intervals — perfect for lashing on a sleeping pad, tent, trekking poles, or other accessories. Combine it with the CREST 30 optional parts (rear shock cord) and you can lock down a sleeping mat very securely.

2 L side pockets (left & right)

Large side pockets that each hold a 2 L plastic bottle. The opening shape and position let you pull a bottle out smoothly while standing on the move. They also work well for an umbrella or trekking poles.

Front pocket (2 L)

A 2 L front pocket on the body. The position is ideal for items you reach for often on the move (snacks, map, rain gear, gloves).

Removable inner pad

The back panel pad is removable. Taking it out improves back-panel airflow and shaves weight. The pack supports the UL style of using a sleeping pad in place of the back pad, which gives you more freedom in how you pack.

Top-lid Y-strap (included)

A Y-strap is included for fixing the top lid from the outside. On light days you can cinch it down compactly; on heavy days you have plenty of room. It can also hold the lid in place with items stuffed inside it.

38 mm loop (lower)

There is a 38 mm webbing loop at the bottom of the pack. Threading the CREST 30 optional hip belt through this loop lets it function as a hip belt. Pair it with the OBSI PACK and you can also use it as a hip pocket.

  ショルダーへボトルホルダーを装備。最大1Lペットボトルを入れてカウンターバランスとなります。サングラスや行動食の収納にも最適です。
