I understand that the CREST 40 is made to order, but how long will it take to arrive?
CREST 40 is made to order — delivery is about 4–6 weeks after the order is confirmed. The carbon X-frame manufacturing process takes time. We'll email an exact delivery date after the order is confirmed.
-
How do I choose between tabi-style and round-toe separate dry socks?
The tabi (split-toe) type lets you feel the ground better and pairs well with trail-running shoes or shoes with a wide toe box. The round type has a more orthodox shape and works with a wider range of shoes — also recommended if it's your first time with a separate-toe build. Pick based on the toe-box shape of your current shoes.
-
Is pilling on merino wool a defect?
Pilling can appear on merino wool early in wear. This is a property of natural fiber, not a quality defect. It settles down through wear and washing. If it bothers you, treat it gently with a fabric shaver. Avoid pulling at it — that can damage the fabric.
-
What are the differences between the GLOW model and the regular model of the 3D WHISTLE?
The GLOW model uses phosphorescent material, which absorbs sunlight and artificial light and glows in the dark. This ensures visibility inside tents and during night hikes. The phosphorescent performance lasts almost indefinitely. The functions (volume and sound quality) are the same as the standard model.
-
Can I get advice on fitting the CREST 40?
Yes — because it's made to order, we offer fitting consultations before you order. Send your height, weight, and torso length through the contact form, and we'll suggest the best size. In-store fittings at our retailers are also available.
-
Can beginners use MYOG kits? What tools are needed?
Basic sewing tools (a sewing machine or hand needle, thread, scissors, and a ruler) are enough to build it. The kit includes the materials, the pattern, and detailed instructions. You can hand-sew it, but for finish quality and strength we recommend a machine. Even a beginner can follow the step-by-step instructions.
-
Can I cancel my made-to-order item (CREST 40)?
Made-to-order items can't be canceled after manufacturing starts. We may be able to accept a cancellation if it's within 48 hours of ordering and before manufacturing has begun. Contact us through the contact form.
-
Are UL (ultralight) materials less durable than regular materials?
Because UL materials prioritize extreme lightness, their abrasion resistance and tear strength may be lower compared to comparable heavier materials. However, with proper use and care, they offer sufficient durability. Avoiding contact with sharp rocks and branches, and overloading, will ensure long-lasting use. Please refer to the care guide for details.
-
Please explain the characteristics and uses of merino wool and polyester.
Merino wool excels at natural temperature regulation and odor resistance — its biggest strength is that it doesn't smell even when you sweat. You can stay comfortable in it through multi-day traverses. Polyester, on the other hand, dries fast and is more durable, making it better for high-output activity or wet weather. We recommend polyester for high-effort trail running and merino wool for traverses and hiking.
-
What materials are the 3D printed products (WHISTLE) made from?
We use a 3D-printer-specific material based on MPA (a nylon-based resin). It's light and strong enough for use, but high-heat environments (a car dashboard, etc.) can deform it. The GLOW model has a phosphorescent additive that absorbs light and glows in the dark. The glow performance is essentially permanent.
-
What is X-PAC, the material used in backpacks?
X-PAC is a high-performance laminate material developed by Dimension Polyant, Inc. in the USA. Its X-shaped ripstop structure provides high tear strength while remaining lightweight. It also boasts excellent water resistance, making it one of the best materials for ultralight backpacks. However, it is prone to creasing, so it's recommended to store it spread out loosely.
